It's an opportunity for you to network with other linguists and to find out more about the Chartered Institute of Linguists, if you're not already a member. The event is open to members and non-members with an interest in languages.
There is a £25 fee, payable to the Chartered Institute of Linguists, to cover lunch and refreshments.
The aims of this workshop are:
- to offer an overview of basic coaching principles and skills
- to clarify how language is used in coaching to achieve best results
- to demonstrate a proven, successful method for achieving life goals
This will be achieved through short presentations and simple exercises during which participants will have an opportunity to experience coaching first-hand.
This workshop is intended for you if:
- You would like to discover how coaching can achieve best results
- You are interested in the role of language in achieving best results
- You would like to know how best to use language to achieve your life goals
The intention of coaching is to help the client appreciate how their beliefs and behaviours affect their performance, and to enable them to break free from patterns which hinder progress. Understanding the client’s use of language is an important part of facilitating the changes in behaviour which are necessary to achieve their life goals.
By the end of the workshop you will:
- Appreciate the basic principles of coaching
- Understand the purpose and benefits of coaching
- Recognise the importance of language in coaching
- Gain personal experience of coaching and being coached
- Be aware of the importance of language in changing behaviour
- Define one major life goal to be achieved within the next six months
